San Blas is a neighbourhood initially inhabited by the Inca nobility who built imposing stone buildings within walking distance of what was Huacaypata, now the Main Square. The unmistakable precision of the Inca walls can still be seen in most buildings. Today, this neighbourhood is a site of beautiful cobbled streets, popular among artisans who sell their works on the streets. Among its major attractions is the church of San Blas, a temple that holds inside a beautiful wood-carved pulpit, a work of art of incalculable value.
You will also visit the Mendivil workshop, which keeps its doors open for travellers to learn about the beautiful art pieces made by Hilario Mendivil, one of the country's most renowned craftsmen, whose work, consisting of virgins and elongated neck saints, is now continued by his children.
