"Qhapaq Ñan: The Great Inca Trail" is the new project developed by LimaTours, which aims to put in value the Inca roads in Peru. For 130 days, we travelled 3,200 kilometres from Tomebamba (Ecuador) to Cusco (Peru) with a single purpose: to raise awareness about the care of the route, recognize the historical and cultural legacy of the Great Inca Trail and develop sustainable tourist circuits involving local communities.
You will be delighted with the spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca from Huaraz, stroll through the Callejón de Conchucos, the Querococha lagoon and the Kahuish tunnel, considered one of the highest in the world. Along the route, you will camp nearby authentic Tambos. In Soledad de Tambo, you will visit the ushnu (ceremonial platform) guided by an archaeologist who will explain restoration work carried out there. Climb up the stone steps to the Wagapunta Pass at more than 4,500 masl and be amazed with the panorama of the Andean peaks. You will visit mining villages and remote communities in the middle of the puna. You will discover Huanuco Pampa, one of the most important administrative centres of the Chinchaysuyo or northern region of Tahuantinsuyo.
