Today, you will visit the snow-covered Pastoruri, the most easily accessible mountain in the Cordillera Blanca located within the Huascarán National Park. On the way you will pass through a forest of puyas de Raimondi, a plant species endemic to Peru and Bolivia that grows between 3200 and 4800 meters above sea level. The puja of Raimondi, relative of the pineapple, can reach 12 meters high and produce more than 5 thousand flowers during the inflorescence stage. They tend to concentrate on forests above 4,000 meters high, which is a spectacle rarely seen. Then you will arrive at Pastoruri, one of the most popular tourist attractions of Huaraz since its accessibility allows whole families to enjoy the snow that is on the glacier although this has regressed considerably during the last years as a result of global warming.

Go on one of the most spectacular hiking excursions through the Andes Mountains to the Llanganuco and 69 lagoons. Starting from Huaraz, you will pass through the northern part of the Santa River valley known as the "Callejón de Huaylas", located between the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra mountain ranges. On the way, you can appreciate the most important peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, such as Huascarán (6,768 meters above sea level) -the highest mountain in Peru-, among other imposing mountains. In the valley, there are a series of picturesque Andean towns such as the city of Carhuaz and Yungay, where you will see the city buried by an avalanche in 1970. Start the ascent towards the Cordillera Blanca towards the Llanganuco stream. You will visit the two Llanganuco lagoons: Chinacocha with turquoise blue waters with varied high-Andean flora and Orcococha. This area is the heart of the Huascaran National Park, a natural area that protects biodiversity where the world's highest tropical ecosystems are located. Continue to Cebollapampa. After ascending a zigzagging path and crossing fields, you will arrive at "lagoon 69" (4,600 meters above sea level), located at the base of the impressive south-west face of the snow-capped Chacraraju mountain. Walk through the area where the guide will tell you about the high Andean environment. After a snack, you will start the return to Huaraz.
