What will we do?
The hike begins in the town of Pallata (3,100 meters above sea level) and ascends up the valley. As you walk, pass through various ecological microclimates and make note of the changes in flora and fauna. This is due to the cloud forest phenomenon, in which the humidity from the valley below becomes retained, leading to year round rainfall and the tropical landscape that comes with it. Upon arriving at Choquechaca (3,800 meters above sea level) the Laucata family, will show you their community, day to day life and traditions. After a box lunch, enjoy a weaving demonstration and learn about the local techniques inherited from generations past. As you return, take a detour towards the Pumamarca Archaeological Site, an Inca shelter with the most terracing of any site in the whole Sacred Valley. From here, a vehicle will take you back to your hotel.
NOTE: Picnic lunch available with an extra charge.
