Qhapac Ñan Project

Rediscovering the Inca Trails

THE GREAT INCA TRAIL

After months of planning and research, we are pleased to inform you of the new project developed by LimaTours: the exploration of the great Qhapac Ñan, the longest Inca network, which aims to revalue the Inca roads. Our expedition will cover 3,200km, stretching from Tomebamba, Ecuador to Cusco, Peru. This great project will take five months, in which our team composed of tourism professionals, private organisations and explorers will study the route.

LimaTours is proud to be part of this amazing project that plans to revalue the historical legacy that exists in the country, showing to the world the relevance of this route and the bridges that stretched while it was active. This walk also seeks to obtain the know-how to develop new tourism circuits in shorter sections, in a sustainable and responsible way.

MAIN GOALS OF THE EXPEDITION

Awareness

We will engage with the rural communities, raising awareness along the route and sharing the correct practices for tourism development as well as integrating them into the experience. We will also be capturing and posting the trail on social media to international tourism markets, promoting this important UNESCO World Heritage network.

To share the magic of this trail with the world through the development of new tourism routes

We want to build actionable operational know-how to conduct tourism routes along sections of the Qhapaq Ñan in the medium term and through the entire Qhapaq Ñan in the long term. By 2018, LimaTours, intends to operate shorter (3-10 days) expeditions on the Qhapaq Nan with clients.
